THIRD RAIL CURRENT COLLECTOR SOLUTIONS

Hall Industries will custom design third rail current collectors, based on our service proven design (Part# TR-9076-1700A), to meet the specifications of the authority and car builder. When your needs require unique contact shoe collectors, Hall engineering will work with your engineers to develop a solution that works for your unique requirements.

  • Underrunning or overrunning contact shoe.
  • Spring loaded paddle provides contact force required by specifications.
  • The Paddle is shunted to the fuse by use of the appropriate cable.
  • Integrated height adjustment feature that compensates for wheel wear.
  • Molded polyester-fiberglass Insulation block.
  • The bus bars allow easy fuse removal.
  • Simple 4 bolt installation
  • Amp capacity @ 2000VDC is 1700A continuous, 2500A intermittent (30 minutes), and 3600A (5 seconds)
  • Current is shunted around contact shoe pivots with adequately sized cabling.
  • The collector can be fitted with your choice of fuse.
  • The current collector performs at speeds up to 100 mph.
  • The collector assembly height is adjustable to compensate for tolerance build-up, wheel wear, and collector shoe wear.
  • All hardware is 440C stainless steel or equal.
  • Collector shoe casting is formulated for arc resistance and enhanced conductivity.
  • All steel castings are grade 70.
  • The current collector meets all environmental and safety requirements and specifications.
  • Final Design, Mockups, FAI units, Testing and Manuals to meet specifications.
