Bridge Bearings

From raw material to final assembly all operations are put through stringent quality assurance guidelines established under ISO 9002 and AISC certifications, and all requirements for Manufacturing (HLMR) Bridge Bearings compliant to ASSHTO, bulletin 15 and specification 408.

Raw Material & Tracking
SlidersMarked raw pistons
Raw material is staged in a holding area for inspection by Q.C. and a PennDOT inspector. Each piece is marked with purchase order, location number, and heat number. These marking are maintained throughout the manufacturing process to assure traceability.

We utilize CNC milling and turning for the machining operations. Welding is performed using certified welders and a certified inspecter, as per AISC. Inpection and quality control are performed at each station..

Assembly & Inspection
Surface FinishAssembly/Inspection
Assembly and Inspection are performed in our assembly process area. Bearings must meet dimensional, surface finish, and load bearing requirements.

Testing, Packaging, & Shipping
Bearing in pressBridge Bearing
Load testing is performed using our 750 Ton Erie Vertical Press. Tests performed include coefficient of friction testing under 100% load (after 12 hrs under load) and a 150% capacity rotation test. Our up acting press with a 50-50 platen has a 60” vertical opening and a 36” stroke utlizing a 36” cylinder. After testing and approval, bridge bearings are palletized and wrapped for secure, weather protected shipping to the job site. Each bearing is labeled with the required identifying and orienting marks.
